Mindy's tip: Don't transfer speculatively — except when there's a big bonus running. Right now the Marriott 55% bonus (through June 30) is the biggest Chase–Marriott bonus we've seen. It only makes sense if you have a specific Marriott booking in mind. Otherwise keep your points in Chase until you have a confirmed redemption.
Amex Membership Rewards
Most partners transfer at 1:1, but Hilton is 1:2 (you get 2 Hilton points per 1 Amex point). Amex frequently runs transfer bonuses of 20–30% — check before you transfer.
Mindy's tip: Amex is how we got to France — Flying Blue + a 20% transfer bonus cut our point cost significantly. Right now there's a 20% Marriott bonus through June 30, but honestly Amex→Marriott is rarely a great trade. Your Amex MR points are worth ~2¢ each, and Marriott points are worth ~0.7¢ — even at 1:1.2, you're losing value. Hold for a Flying Blue or airline bonus instead.
Capital One Miles
Most Capital One partners transfer at 1:1. A few transfer at 2:1.5 (you get 1.5 partner miles per 2 Capital One miles). Eligible cards: Venture X, Venture X Business, Venture, Spark Miles.
Mindy's tip: Capital One's biggest strength isn't the transfer partners — it's the DIA lounge with the Venture X. For transfers, Flying Blue and Aeroplan are the strongest options. The 2:1.5 partners (like Choice) are generally poor value — stick to 1:1 transfers.
